Project Overview
Byblos Constructions was engaged by Rio Tinto to deliver the enabling civil works for the Jerriwah Village Potable Water Treatment Plant (PWTP) expansion. The project involved bulk earthworks, reinforced concrete foundations, fencing infrastructure, and associated site preparation works required to support the installation of a new potable water treatment facility servicing the expanded village accommodation precinct.
Scope of Works
- Site establishment, mobilisation, permits, and HSE compliance requirements.
- Vacuum excavation and service locating prior to ground disturbance.
- Relocation of existing sea containers.
- Construction of a new PWTP pad, access ramp, and bund through cut-to-fill earthworks.
- Borrow pit material conditioning, haulage, placement, and compaction.
- Excavation, reinforcement, formwork, and concrete placement for the PWTP ring beam foundations.
- Installation of precast hold-down plinths and concrete access plinths.
- Placement of sand and blue metal within the tank footprint.
- Drainage and access road reinstatement works.
- Modification of existing fencing and installation of new security fencing and gates.
- Site clean-up and demobilisation.
Outcomes
Byblos successfully delivered the civil infrastructure package, providing a prepared and compliant foundation for the installation of the new potable water treatment facility. The works were completed in line with Rio Tinto’s quality, safety, and operational requirements, supporting the continued expansion of Jerriwah Village and ensuring reliable potable water infrastructure for future accommodation demands.
