Project Overview
Byblos Constructions was engaged to deliver the installation of a marquee structure at the West Angelas Aerodrome to provide a safe, weather-protected, and air-conditioned waiting and crib area for both passengers and operational staff.
The project addressed limited existing facilities and required full integration of civil, electrical, and mechanical works within a live aerodrome environment.
Scope of Works
- Mobilisation, site establishment, permits, and aerodrome-safe work controls
- Careful dismantling, relocation, and storage of existing storage shed and infrastructure
- Demolition and removal of concrete pad, fencing, services, and redundant assets
- Minor alterations to fire truck shed including door relocation and concrete works
- Bulk earthworks, footing construction, retaining, and civil preparation for marquee
- Supply and installation of marquee structure including flooring, doors, stairs, and internal partition
- Internal fit-out including seating, kitchenette, benching, and amenities
- Plumbing installation including potable water, drainage, and wastewater pumping
- Electrical, comms, and services installation including power, GPOs, network, and PA integration
- Generator supply and installation including fuel system and concrete bases
- Installation of HVAC systems including split units, ducting, and ventilation
- Installation of fencing, walkways, bollards, and access interfaces
- Stormwater, drainage, and reinstatement works
- Testing, commissioning, and project handover
Key Challenges
- Delivering works within a live aerodrome environment with ongoing flight operations
- Maintaining safe access and segregation of passengers, vehicles, and construction activities
- Coordinating multiple work fronts (civil, electrical, structural) within a constrained footprint
- Managing logistics, deliveries, and plant movement in high-traffic operational areas
- Ensuring compliance with BCA requirements, IFMS standards, and site safety protocols
