Paraburdoo Rocklea Palms Central Facilities
Between June 2021 and March 2022, our firm was engaged by Sodexo and Rio Tinto to undertake a significant refurbishment at Rocklea Palms’ central facilities in Paraburdoo, with a project value of $5 million.
The scope of this project included a full internal and external refurbishment of the site, focusing on critical areas such as the kitchen, coolrooms, and wet areas. This renovation also involved the complete replacement of flooring, the removal of all asbestos-containing materials, structural modifications including wall removal, as well as upgrades to painting, tiling, electrical systems, plumbing, and a full re-roofing of the facility.
The outcome of this project was the complete transformation of the kitchen mess. The project’s success was marked by its delivery on time and within budget, surpassing the quality expectations set by our clients, Sodexo and Rio Tinto.
The COVID-19 pandemic posed significant challenges such as personnel mobilisation, supply chain reliability, and scheduling became prominent concerns that required immediate and effective solutions. However, through rigorous planning and review, we were able to navigate these challenges successfully.
This experience has been instrumental in strengthening our management processes, particularly in areas of schedule management, stakeholder engagement, and communication. The lessons learned from this project have provided valuable insights that will inform our approach to future projects, ensuring resilience and adaptability in the face of unforeseen challenges.
